Assisi, Sissy!

Hey lovers.

Since I failed to keep up with my posts, I have to separate these into about 3 posts so that it's not overloaded.

Assisi was beautiful.

The landscapes were completely unreal. I really didn't feel like I was there; it almost sucks because it was so unbelievable that... well, I could hardly believe it.

Sarah, Devyn, Ashley T., Ariel, Ashley H., and myself.

Basilica of San Francesco.

This is another great example of the beautiful landscape. Alex said it just looks like any other googled image because it just looks so perfect.

Sarah and I! We've planned on where we're going for spring break; Barcelona and Sicily with Haven and Kat!!!!!!! SSDFJHKSDJFH

Crazy pasta I cooked for myself that night.

I have such an addiction to crazy pasta.

Minestrone veggies, crazy pasta, red sauce, and ricotta cheese.

Eat, Eat, Eat. And Eat some more.

Hello lovers.

And hello tiramisu.

This is the Fleur de lis; Florence's symbol. And their color is purple. Best place ever?

Recipe! (Mostly for my future reference)

It was very easy. I used a basic recipe; I wanna try something more complicated when I get home and can actually find/read the ingredients in the store.

Devyn and I have been talking about making tiramisu since we got here. I've always wanted to try it at home but I never got around to it; mostly because I never felt like spending the money. Somehow it was easier here, considering I had to buy my own food anyway.

All you need- a class-provided apron, wooden spoon, and jug o' Bailey's.

I made a stencil and used it to dust white powdered sugar on top.

We made it before we left for dinner and let it set. Bailey's is DELICIOUS by the way. Too delicious.

Since before I left for Italy, I was craving a burger. It didn't make it any better that there were next to no burgers on any menus (pastas and pizzas, duh). But there was one American place to eat- there was The Diner. AMAZING. I walked in and almost melted- the smells alone were stupefying. I wanted to eat what I was smelling.

So I ordered myself a good old-fashioned bacon burger. I was nearly in tears of happiness. While we ate our 3 bacon cheeseburgers with cheddar cheese (which is literally impossible to find anywhere else here), the table was almost dead silent, save for the typical American Blink 182 playing in the background.

Oh, and complimentary mimosas during happy hour (4pm-8pm)? Please and thank you.

The Diner was decorated adorably- pink and orange walls (one of my favorite color combinations, if you add yellow) with hanging seashell decor. Tacky red lights were strung up by the front door and flashed every so often.

I was in American heaven.

After finishing the burger, my stomach wanted to love and hate me at the same time. It was so wonderfully satisfying but I thought I was going to explode.

We came home; I let my stomach settle for a bit.

Then for the tiramisu.

What a great day for food.

I've pretty much played out the Italy part of Eat, Pray, Love.

EAT EAT EAT EAT EAT EAT EAT EAT.

"I like songs about drifters"

Hey lovers.

Banana dipped in Nutella, DUH.

It turned out alright...

Sunday Carnivale parade!

Something about this evening was beautiful. (Other than being in Florence)

First prints from Photo class!!!

BOOKED FOR IRELAND! April 8th-10th, coming back 8AM on the 11th before my 9AM class. :)

Cooking class field trip!

Crema de Grom and Extranoir Ciocolatto!

Chef Tommaso Cintolesi prepping us for the gustation of Grom's Gelato- best in Italy!

Olive oil dip with whole wheat bread, and a little brie and pesto sauce in the back (with my huge jug of water, of course.

Roomies ;)
Wide eyes.

New bag, new dress, new jacket. All for €39. The purse was from H&M and the jacket and dress were from Promod, this SICK new store that I am completely in love with. I hope they have one in the States.

This past Wednesday, I went on a field trip with my cooking class. We walked around the San Lorenzo market which included the food market (as opposed to the leather market) and it was AWESOME. I would have taken pictures but I needed to take notes.

Then afterwards, we went to the gelateria, Grom. It was DELICIOUS. The best. So ridiculously creamy. I know that gelato melts in your mouth but this was a different kind of melting- it was uplifting. I'm definitely going back. It was a part of our lab fee so we didn't have to pay for it. Although it was well worth more than €2,00.

I love my chef :)

Also... My roommates and I booked our flight to Ireland!!!!!!!

Anyone who has known me at all knows how much I've been dying to go to Ireland!! I LOVE the accent; it's musical to me. Since I've been in 5th grade, I've had an obsession with voices (and the piano) and accents are like different genres of voices. It explains my love for late night radio because I loved listening to George, Dr. Drew Pinsky, and Adam Carolla.

In any event, when I was watching Sons of Anarchy this past semester (when Jax had to go to Belfast to find Abel), it never occurred to me that I would be able to see Ireland. The accents were beautiful; I'm going to watch it again just for the hell of it :) I cannot wait. I heard Ireland was beautiful. Where we're staying is near the water so I have a lot of photo opportunities. Also, we'll be right in the middle of town. I can't wait to see the scenery (nature or otherwise)! Not to mention the extremely attractive Irelanders :)

We're leaving Friday evening and getting there at 7:40ish. We'll be there Friday night, Saturday night, and leaving Sunday night. I have a class Monday morning so we couldn't stay an extra day, and the trains don't run past 10 (we'll be getting in at 11) so we have to stay in Pisa since we're flying in and out from there. We found a nice hostel for €9, so we'll be there and at 7AM, we'll leave Pisa for Florence and get back at about 8AM. Then I have to run home and run to classes by 9AM. Just getting back from Ireland; no big deal :) I LOVE THIS. I LOVE THIS SO MUCH.

Ahhh I think I'm going to flip!!! When I was booking the flight, I was bouncing off the walls! From now until then, we're going to be very busy. Tomorrow we're going to Assisi. :)

And on that note, I best go to sleep.

Cerrrrrramics!

Hey lovers.

Tickets to Milan for Design Week!!!!!!!!

Ceramics progress. It's lumpy, it's odd shaped, it's not completely symmetrical, the spout is too long, and I'm pretty sure it's gonna come up with a shitton of cracks. But I'm so proud :)

I have so much respect for ceramics people. I cannot do this to save my life; I was so frustrated- I made it in 2 parts and ended up destroying the second part to start over hahah. But I'm proud, I stuck it through after about 9ish hours (2 days)!

Lecture room (we're never in there)

Ceramics studio

Some installment in the art building.

Every so often, the shoe will start spinning and the shirt in the back will start moving when the fan turns on. Usually, Michael Jackson plays but I think it got really irritating after the first day so it was turned off.

Wine and cookies with Elise?

The recipe! Feel free to steal and share :)
